He talks about how attachment can be superficial, or deep, and about how children attach to parents. In our modern Western society however, many things have intervened which prevent children from deeply attaching to parents. As a result, we are seeing an unprecedented way of problems in our children related to this, such as anxiety, attention problems, aggression, and peer orientation (whereby children no longer value parents and adults as their source of guidance but rather turn to other children/youth as sources of guidance).

I am finding his ideas incredibly powerful and useful for most clinical situations. The great news about this work is that even if your school can't do it, you can do this with your own kids at home -- just have them exercise 20 minutes with you, with the key ingredient being that their heart rate must reach 65-75% of their max.
